what do rangers do?

This elite, quick response unit of the US Army has a long history. Here's a summary of their expertise,training, past missions and organization.


pfc anton berendsen

US Army Ranger 1992-1995

Position: He was on Chalk IV as a M203 gunner with his team leader Sgt. Casey Joyce, who was killed. He was 19 at the time of the firefight.

pfc david floyd

US Army Ranger 1992-1996

Position: SAW Gunner for Chalk III - Super Six Six. At the time of the 1993 Mogadishu ambush he was 20.

Specialist Mike Kurth

US Army Ranger 1991-1996

Position: Helicopter Radio Operator for Sgt. Watson, Chalk III - Super Six Six. Basic mission was to update the Commander on their position, situation and keep Sgt. Watson in contact. Physically stayed with Sgt. Watson on all the missions, except the October 3rd, when he was pulled for security and radio communications. He was 24 at the time of the 1993 ambush.

specialist jason moore

US Army Ranger 1992-1995

Position: RTO - radio telephone operator for Chalk IV - Helicopter Super Six - Seven on October 3rd. Chalk IV were supposed to set-up a blocking position around the target building. He was 22 at the time of the 1993 firefight.

Sgt Randy Ramaglia

US Army Ranger 1991-1995

Position: Squad Leader, Chalk III - Super Six Six First Platoon Bravo Company, Private Ranger Task Force - Ranger Regiment. Squad leader and Alpha Team Leader. He was 21 at the time of the firefight.

sgt keni thomas

US Army Ranger 1991-1997

Position: First Lieutenant on Chalk III - Super Six Six -- Roped in to the street corner by Olympic Hotel. At the time of the Mogadishu battle, he was 27.
