Learn Moreabout PBS online sponsorship- Yeah, that's a really important part for me, giving a voice to those who didn't have a voice or don't have a voice right now, but are trying to get their voice out there.
Women of color did not have a voice a hundred years ago, more than a hundred years ago as well.
But giving a voice to people like Margaret Toll Robinson, who was a black woman in Julian, and she and her husband Albert, they started a bakery, then a restaurant, and then a 14 room hotel in Julian.
And that hotel is the historic Julian Hotel today.
And people don't realize that that was a black couple who started that.
And so I wanna give a voice to that couple to tell their story because when you tell the stories, you keep their memories alive, including the first peoples of Southern California, including the Kumeyaay nation.
Given the voice to the kumeyaay and first peoples in Southern California allows them to tell their history and allows people to learn about their incredible, amazing history that when you learn about it, you're just, you know, blown away because you just didn't know about this history.
And so, yes, giving a voice to those who didn't have a voice is something that is so empowering, but is also such a big honor and a responsibility for me.
