Personal Health & Fitness
When Emily, a teacher in Santa Ana, California, asked her students to stay after school for a special project, she was shocked to find out why they refused. They were afraid to walk home. With no crosswalks, stop signs, or crossing guards, the streets near the school were highly dangerous to cross during the late-day rush hour. Emily decided to make a school project out of it. The students began monitoring the number of cars that used the street and borrowed a radar from the police to record their speed. Their efforts helped enact change and make the streets of Santa Ana better for everyone. |
