Karen Gall, FL Agree

... skepticism toward ...

September 18,2003

Saw Flashpoint for the first time this morning...excellent!

It only takes a few rotten apples to spoil the basket full. I believe those few provoke the negative attitude and skepticism toward the entire news organization.

Tommy, IL Strongly Disagree

... reflection of the governments ...

September 18,2003

The "media" is nothing more than a reflection of the governments point of view. Just like the government, PBS has formed the agenda for this survey as to exclude racism. Therefore, racism in the media is OFF THIS SUBJECT....(that's the official U.S. policy on racism...it's "off the agenda", for discussion.

Bill, MO Strongly Disagree

... baldfaced lie ...

September 18,2003

I could write volumes on this subject, but for the sake of brevity, I'll point this one out:

The LIE that most liberal media outlets label reductions in the GROWTH RATE of a government program as a "CUT". This is a total baldfaced lie that is inexcusable.

Enough said.

Robert Whi, IL Strongly Disagree

... too soft ...

September 17,2003

OK: I think the US media are much to "servile"-appearing. They almost never *really* push their interviewees, especially those who are officials in the government. Interviewers should aspire to the position of a BBC interviewer. And,the FLASHPOINTS program should aspire to the example set by
Robert McChesney on WILL-AM in Urbana, IL. I saw only part of the program tonight (Sep. 17) but it was too soft. I think the questions are provocative, but the path to the answers isn't challenging enough of the status quo. (See McChesney's website or Kathleen Hall Jamison, or, Bill Moyers. You're trying to do something that he already does better (in my view). BUT I give you credit for taking this approach and hope you keep in going...but with more of an edge. Tonight you inter-viewed Tom Brokaw who was featured on an NBC special riding in a limo with the president!! How can you be objective if you're acting like a "friend" of GWB? It isn't credible!

But, again, keep going but be responsive to viewers comments. (Not just mine, but the others I hope will comment!)

Jim, CO Disagree

... dangerous farce ...

September 17,2003

I will listen to any and all news with the notable exception of Fox and the Washington Times.
Both organizations are bankrolled by billionaires with a distain for humanity.
As for orielly of Fox, he is a dangerous farce, he will do alot of damage to the under-educated in this country...but he will make his millions and snicker all the way to the bank.

Val E. Sen, CO Strongly Disagree

... personal agenda ...

September 17,2003

I have complete distrust in the Media in general. I am discusted with always hearing the liberal side on any issue. Most news reporters reflect their own personal agenda.

Linda, CA Strongly Disagree

... I switched ...

September 17,2003

I switched to international news sources, especially after election 2000 silence.

Yuka, MA Strongly Disagree

... still have respect ...

September 17,2003

I still have respect for the American journalists in general. But I don't trust the Media Organizations. I believe that they have too much power to controll journalists.

Kelly, TX Strongly Disagree

... highly suspicious ...

September 17,2003

I am highly suspicious of the news--I certainly feel the news has a "corporate agenda". What I find most intesting is what doesn't make the news!

Paul, CA Strongly Agree

... blatantly controlled ...

September 17,2003

The media today is so blatantly controlled by a cabal of conservative idealogues that you can't believe anything it puts out. It ios so watered down with conservative opinion and Laci Peterson type news that Americans as a group remain largely unaware of what is truly going on in the world-or even at home!
