Clip: Season 2026 | 39sVideo has Closed Captions
Measure your toys without a ruler! A math activity to practice nonstandard measurement.
Let’s measure our toys with other toys! - Pick a big or long toy, like a bear or a truck. - Find smaller toys that are all the same size, like blocks or cars. - Line up the small toys next to the big toy. - Count how many it takes to match the height of the big toy. This short math mission is great for classroom or at-home breaks. Brought to you by: Family Math, by PBS SoCal

Where to Watch Family Math
Family Math is available to stream on pbs.org and the PBS app.
Let's measure our toys with other toys.
If you want, ask your grown-up if they can do it with you.
If they can't, don't worry.
You can do it by yourself.
First, pick a big or long toy, like a bear or a truck.
Now, find some smaller toys that are all the same size, like blocks or cars.
Line them up next to the big toy, one by one, and count how many it takes to match the height of the bigger toy.
Can you find other toys that are the same height?
