... decisions are based
...
January 28,2004
|
My decisions are based on my love and respect for this earth and it's inhabitants, not my fear of eternal damnation. I was taught by two gentle and giving hands, not one giving hand and one wicked one waiting to deal punishment.

I make decisions on a moral basis, but not because a particular church tells me what to do.

Actually, I make decisions based on scripture. If Americans acted upon biblical teaching as strongly as Muslims do on their belief system, we probably would not have had 9/11 happen to our country.

May God always lead me. I am the one who sometimes does not seek His guidance before making my decisions. The Golden Rule works well most of the time.

... monumental role in my daily life
...
January 28,2004
|
Yes, my faith plays a monumental role in my daily life. While I consider myself to be intelligent and I analyze and think about my options before making a decision, I recognize that those decisions are made from my bank of experiences and my faith. I think most people DO make their decisions based somewhat on their religious experiences, whether those experiences are positive or negative.

... nothing more than an ideal

Thank God that Christ came on this earth over two thousand years ago to give us Christianity because man has seen fit to give us religion. Religion is nothing more than an ideal and there are a lot of ideals out their.

... the blessings of God
...
January 28,2004

If I follow God, he will bless me. If I do not follow God, I am following Satan instead, and am withdrawn from receiving the blessings of God. My country was established by the power of God. If I deny that power He will withdraw his protection from my country.

I think that as a whole, most people are religious, even if their religion is at the exclusion of a god.

Generations of Russians wonder and wish to have what we take for granted. To undermine our freedom of religion is to cause the US to submit to a most frightening future. You would see the modern day fall of Rome.

This answer applies to all of your topics. This discussion of seperation of church and state has nothing to do with an individuals religious beliefs or non beliefs. The question is whether the constitution (the format with which we use to live in this country) was based upon the principle that there is a God. And therefore, we can acknowledge God in a governmental setting/application. Whether the constitution was based upon the principles of a judeo christian ethic. The answer to both of these is yes. This ethic and belief in God allows for all of this discussion and disagreement. It also allows someone the freedom not to believe in God. But because it allows you not to believe, does not mean that you can negate what the framers of the constitution wrote. The fact is that the framers based the constitution on a belief in God and they wrote it, and printed the word GOD. People who are asking to take God out of the equation are asking to rewrite history, to change the constitution. Read it, the answers are all there. The thought process that wants to negate the basis of God from the equation, is getting rid of the principle that allows them the benefit to disagree and shout it from the rooftops, or to try to convince others of the same without reprucussion. The ethic of free choice, speech etc. You cannot take away the core, the essence of the main principle of the constitution(which was a belief in Gods rules) and then enjoy the benefits of its principles. If this is accomplished then there will be no outline, and thus chaos will ensue, no belief system, then no beliefs. You might think that you would respectfully allow the country to continue with this document/principle which gives you the right not to believe. The constitution seems to be working...It allows the government to help the people enjoy their God given freedoms, not for the government to become the God and decide for you. The document would not have been created if the framers had not had this belief system. !
Remembering that the beliefs allow you to not agree.

... religion does not make people moral
...
January 28,2004
|
My Life is as "moral" or ethical as any religious person. It is obvious that religion does not make people moral, as we see so many so called religious people doing immoral and unethical practices.
Why didn't you have an atheist on the program to explain why and how we live a good and ethical life.
