January 27,2004

God is not a part of my life, but morality and ethics are. Much the same can be said about many of the non-Christian founders of our country.

January 27,2004

It is great that people can find the type of support that they do in religion, but I, as someone who doesn't follow any organized religion, see clearly why political and social issues cannot be, or at least should not be, based upon the teachings of one faith. When an issue affects people of numerous religions, one should not be considered, regarded, or consulted more then the others.

January 27,2004

God is the center of my life.
Through faith and confidence in Him. I seek his direction for every decision of my life.

January 27,2004

My believe on God is very strong. I was raised and educated respecting the TEN COMMANDENTS. No human being would exist without God, He is our Creator and the Creator of the universe. This nation was founded under God, THAT IS WHY THIS NATION IS THE STRONGEST NATION IN THE WORLD!!!

January 27,2004

I think that the statement is true for the person stating it; however, I also think that good conscience which should be the effect of a religious upbringing, is not necessarily only a result of a specific belief.
A person can be moral and therefore consciable, without necessarily being religious - it depends on how and by whom we were raised.

... how I raise my child ...

January 27,2004

I strive to include God in 100% of the decisions that I make on a daily basis. Whether my choices have to do with what I say, what I think, where I go, how I dress, how I drive, how I spend my time, how I treat my neighbors, how I raise my child, or how I show my husband that I love him--GOD HAS TO DO WITH ALL OF THESE THINGS. My parents raised their three daughters to know God and love His ways. As for my sisters and I, we saw God as a REALITY in EVERYTHING. It is a diservice to ourselves, to our families and to society to exclude God in such choices. Looking at our 14 cousins, raised without God, 100% of them have at least one of these unfortunate circumstances breaking their lives into shambles: alcoholism, drug use, criminal activity, adultery, abortion, laziness, gluttony, pornography, academic failures, and psychological problems. One of them drove himself to suicide at the age of 16. The youngest, 11, is in counseling. And the oldest, about 40, is living with her lover-just divorced her husband of 15 years, has had two illegitimate sons, and has put all three of her kids in a world of hurt and confusion. I challenge any American to analyze the church-going, truly God-fearing members of their families with those that do not attend church nor fear God. YOU WILL SEE THAT THE DIFFERENCE IS INCREDIBLE. PS. I also see this in so many other families on a daily basis since my husband is a pastor.

January 27,2004

My faith in God through his son Jesus helps me to make most of my every day decisions. How I deal and treat people is based upon what the bible teaches me.

January 27,2004

I am an atheist. There is no God. It is annoying to me that others in this country seem to think it appropriate to push their beliefs down my throat.

January 27,2004

Good religion (unless of a satanic nature) promotes love and justice among human beings. I'm grateful for good and strong religious leaders who help us to strive in building a better world.

January 27,2004

I do not take for granted that I live in a country where the opportunity to worship Christ and to read God's holy word is an option. I try to seek God's will in my life in every decision I make. I pray for His mercy, grace, and convicting power for not only myself but for my family and my country.

Harry, MD Strongly Agree

... law and order ...

January 27,2004

I make my decisions based on the teachings of the Bible and what I have learned from my attendance in church. My parents, who were Christians, left their land of birth which was moslum. They come to America to have religious freedom. America's religious foundations led it to be free and provided its moral standards. The law and order in America's governance was instituted with Biblical guidence inputed from its early leaders.

January 27,2004

My spiritual life--that is my personal relationship to God, as in God is one but has many names, is important to me. But I do not make all my decisions on this basis, if I did they would all be just.

I believe in the teachings of The Holy Bible. It is truly benificial in my life and has proven to be in the children that my wife and I have raised.

January 27,2004

Special thanks to PBS for airing a discussion that I am interested in. I strongly beleive that morals based on the Christian faith guided our forefathers. When we took God out of our schools the children suffered and the country will continue to deteriate if we turn our back on this important heritage.

Robert, OH Strongly Agree

... all my decisions ...

January 27,2004

I base all my decisions on the truth of the Bible. This country has been blessed by God because it has stood for the principals of the Bible(GOD'S WORD)! If we turn away from GOD and His Word we will be asking for GOD'S Wrath and judgement. The issues that were addressed in your episode are not a difference in oppinion, but a choice we must make. Obey GOD and be blessed, or turn away from Him and be judged.

Connie, MI Strongly Agree

... personal relationship ...

January 27,2004

The only thing I would change about that statement is that rather than following teachings of a given church, I consider the Bible, and my personal relationship with the Creator for wisdom, a safer basis for governing my thoughts and principles.

Keith, MD Strongly Disagree

... very much opposed ...

January 27,2004

I respect the beliefs of others and I do not discourage the practice of any religion on a personal basis. However, I am very much opposed to that practice whenever it infringes on my beliefs and others who do not share those beliefs or have no belief at all.

Chad, NY Agree

January 27,2004

Religion does play a large part in my personal life, but I do not force any of my religious beliefs on others. I think it is a necessity for our leaders to have high moral standards whether those standards are based on religious beliefs or not, but I do not think it is fair when politicians use their political office to express their personal beliefs and try to incorporate those beliefs into the laws of the land.
