... FOGOTTEN THEIR PLACE ...

January 27,2004

YOU PEOPLE HAVE READ YOUR OWN AGENDA INTO THE CONSTITUTION. THE FOUNDERS MADE A GREAT EFFORT TO NOT USE JESUS IN THE CONSTITUTION. THEY REALIZED THAT THE FUTURE COULD INVOLVE OTHER FAITHS. BUT THIS CONTRY WAS FOUNDED IN GOD'S BEHALF.
NOT TO EVERY WHEM THAT COME ALONG. WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO THE MAJORITY RULE. I DO UNDER STAND DIFFERENT VIEWS. BUT THE MAJORITY RULES. THE SUPREME COURT HAS FOGOTEN THEIR PLACE.

... most important things ...

January 27,2004

My faith and my God are the most important things to me in my life. I do my best to live my life according to the Bible. I have a teenage son and am raising him in our church; he is turning out to be a fine young Christian man, who will be getting his Eagle Award in Boy Scouts soon.
I am proud to have a Christian president as our leader!

... helps me get through every day ...

January 27,2004

My higher power helps me get through every day. The fact that I refer to my higher power as God is my choice. Without a higher power one is by him/herself, and lacking the extra strength of the spiritual dimension can make life's difficulties overpowering.

Jim, OK Strongly Disagree

... ignore the viewpoints of non-believers ...

January 27,2004

Religious Americans seem to ignore the rights of agnostics, athiests and other freethinkers when they call for government recognition of religious doctrine. Even programs such as yours seem to ignore the viewpoints of non-believers. I want to hear that viewpoint.

Michael, KS Disagree

... I want freedom ...

January 27,2004

Religion does play a large role in my daily life because it is inescapable. The shopping malls, newspapers, television, radio stations and public forums are inundated with fundamental Christian viewpoints all in the guise of "religious freedom." The Christian right does not want religious freedom they want religious and political domination. At this point, I want freedom from religion.

... that's why it's called faith ...

January 27,2004

I don't feel that any Educated man or woman in a free country like this bases any desision on religion. just feel that religion is used as a excuse to pack up a unjustified opinion, no religious veiw is justified through thought and fact that's why it's called faith.

Cedrick, MI Strongly Agree

January 27,2004

Yes my relationship with God is my identity.I must consider the will of God in all my decisions.

... principals have brought us a long way ...

January 27,2004

The intutive spirit within me also plays a major part in the religious beliefs of mankind. Our nation being founded on these principals have brought us a long way. To now tear down the main moral fiber of this nation is sadistic and based only on feelings of those who are unhappy. Our country is trying to turn to the religious organizations for help in what has fallen apart by the governing efforts of man. I suppose at some point then who will stop us from being obediant to the traffic laws we are governed by!

January 27,2004

Christianity is the key - basing decisions on the holy scriptures (bible) and the Holy Spirit

Noel, FL Strongly Agree

January 27,2004

Because my goal here on earth is to obtain eternal life in heaven, I attempt to follow the teachings of my religion and am assured of my salvation.

... We need a basis ...

January 27,2004

Without God and the Bible, what standards of ethics and morality do we have personnally or culturally? We need a basis for deciding not to steal, kill or destroy, or commit adultury. Without a sence of the divine presence, we quickly devolve to situation ethics and may revert to a state where a dictator the likes of Hitler could arise again and we'll have no grounds for challenging him.

January 27,2004

My relationship with Jesus Christ plays the largest role in my life. Though I am nowhere near perfect, nor do I always make the right decisions, He is there to lift me back up, heal my wonds, and get me back on His path. This gives me great peace and comfort knowing that I am not going this alone.

... which way I was going ...

January 27,2004

A few weeks a go I was about to respond to an online poll on wether or not the words "Under God" should be removed from our schools. Just then I got a feeling to check my Email. At first I ignored it and thought I would check it after I voted, but the feeling to check my Email came back, so I did. In my Email was a Daily Bible Verse that was sent to me, it was from the book of Matthew stating, "Confess me on earth and I will confess you before my Father in heaven, deny me on earth and I will deny you before my Father in heaven" I knew then for sure which way I was going to vote.

... exercise their religious ...

January 27,2004

The framers of the U. S. Constitution envisioned a unified country that would not embrace, favor or punish any particular religious belief. As formulatedd, the First Amendment was intended to preserve the right of all individuals to exercise their religious beliefs, free of persecution, or fear of retribution from government officials. The original debate over religious freedom secured is well documented in the Federalist Papers. One basis, clearly articulated was the avoidance of social/political strife resulting from differing opinions regarding religion. Another intention was to preclude federal or state-mandated support for religious institutions.

It is surprising that in many states, school prayer remains authorized under statutory provisions despite the fact that the U.S. Supreme Court has determined such laws to be a violatiion of the First Amendment and existing civil rights protections.
