... We cannot win
...
January 27,2004
|
I believe everyone should be allowed to practice his or her religion as long as it does not interfere with the civil rights or with the constitution. I am very angry that prayer was taken out of school, I am angry that the ten commandments were removed.
I believe that we have the right of free speech in this country and that includes our right to say what we believe and practice our religion. Homosexuality is ok now but God is not ok? If America takes God out of its vocabulary, then God's protection will leave this country and evil will be called good and good will be called evil even as it has started already. I believe in the golden rule, love God and love your neighbor as yourself if we all did that then this would be a beautiful country and God would bless this country again and protect it from its enemies. Only God is real and we as Christians should show God's love for all people and also be tolerant and patient with those who believe differently. We cannot win people over by forcing an issue on them but we can win them by showing them our love and our empathy. We need to glorify God through our life and by showing love and consideration for all people.
I believe in Jesus but I accept all people and respect their beliefs and their right to their own opinions as long as they respect my opinions also and don't tell me to be quiet because they don't agree with me. We have the right to our own religion and to free speech. This government was based on this right and this government is here to protect all people not only the atheists but also those who love God and want to do good in this world.

... constantly in need of attention
...

My daily decisions are based on goodwill, compassion, and love. Religion ultimately is a game to identify/justify winners and losers.. tragically flawed, constantly in need of attention, and acted out in fear most of the time.

... neither diety nor the church
...
January 27,2004
|
I do not feel that the church is any more reliable a source than anything else, Yes I do discuss my otptions with Diety, then I exercise the free will granted to me by said Diety, to make my decision and accept the consequences thereof.
I abdicate this repsonsiblity to neither diety nor the church who spends so much time and money trying to force their views down everyone's throat.

... Religious freedom
...
January 27,2004
|
This great nation that we are fortunate to be citizens of was indeed founded so that we as people would be able to worship and God of the bible and live as a nation pleasing to Him. Religious freedom was for christians and now this is being taken away and all other religions are being honored. In Proverbs 14:34 says, "Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people" as quoted by former president, Bill Clinton. We should remember that in God we live, we move and we have our being and without him we fail as a people and a nation.

... Freedom of religon
...
January 27,2004
|
Freedom of religon is what this country was founed on. It is difficult for me to understand how we, as a country, we as Americans, can turn our backs on what brought us thus far. I am scared to death to think what kind of place we will live in without our belief in God. Maybe Iraq, Iran, or North Korea can be our examples. Is that where we're headed? I don't want any part of that kind of nation. I pray that God will not allow this to happen, but I know that He is in control, and we can either learn the "easy" way or the "hard" way...His will will be done. Turn to the end of "the book" (Bible) and see who prevails.

Every life is governed by a chosen moral compass if that compass does not direct towards God, life and liberty as our founding fahters did, then your life is a life without proper direction.

... freedom of our beliefs
...
January 27,2004
|
Religion, church, faith and all should not be, by the constitution brought into the relm of government or politics. Separation of church and state should be just that. In the United States of America, we are granted the freedom of our beliefs. To have "God" brought into our government functions, leagl procedings, vows, oaths and public buildings is wrong. When this happens then a definition of who's god becomes necessary. Then it is a matter of baby steps to state religion.

... This is a worldly society
...
January 27,2004
|
I was amazed at the opinions of the theologins on your program.
This is a worldly society and a feel good society. It is evident that the leaders in our country never studied the Bible and what it truly means.
I pray for our country and what is to come.

If we are not guided by God's purposes, then life is not much more than a blind walk through a mine field.

... do not embrace
...
January 27,2004

Ethics plays a large role in my life, but my core values are not prescribed by religion. I don't want those who feel their religious beliefs are the only correct ones to use government to elevate their views over those of people of conscience who do not embrace their beliefs.

... there was civil law
...
January 27,2004
|
History taught me long ago that there was civil law long before there was religious law. Ethics and morals begin at home, not from a book. Morality is a constant learning process. Faith is the denial of reason and with that denial the end of learning.

... what man inherently feels to be right and just
...
January 27,2004
|
I am not a religious person, I make my decisions based on pricipals that correlate very closely to the teachings of the church. These teachings are based on the scriptures that were written by MEN. They simply put into words what man inherently feels to be right and just.

... I have the freedom
...
January 27,2004
|
Yes, I agree with this statement. I live in this country because I have the freedom to live by my beliefs and my government has no right to interfere with my freedom to worship God. My government does not have the right to determine how our president worships. He has the right to express his belief in God. You cannot separate God from his people.

... as long as you are toleratent
...
January 27,2004
|
Why is it that we have so much discrimination? Why is it there are cullingbines?
The reason is instead of teaching to allow everyone the pursuit of happiness and their own beliefs and teaching to respect others no matter what their beliefs and understand that with freedom comes responsiblity to not only ourselves but protecting the rights of others allowing all beliefs to our nation.
God is different to everyone. Some people dont believe in God at all. Thats ok..I dont care what you believe as long as you are toleratent and allow everyone to believe and be who they are within the law.

... will not need to be responsible
...
January 27,2004
|
Unless a person has a foundation upon a higher power, a moral identity, that person will not need to be responsible to society for their actions. There must be a law of the land, and so it is with the law of the Spirit, thus guiding our actions.
