... window years ago ...

January 27,2004

Where does everyone think America would be today if we did not acknowledge our Lord?"Everyone has morals?"Where have you been hiding? That is why there are so many divorces now days, gays, lesbians, and on and on.Morals went out the window years ago. There is no such thing any more. I just thank the good Lord that I was raised in a christian home and believe in the Lord. Otherwise, my road would be a lot shakier and unstable. God is my rock and salvation, it is He that I rely upon.May God have mercy upon those that dont know him and may they come to know him before it is to late. For time is running out for all of us. You dont believe it? Read the last book of the bible. It tells you exactly what is about to happen.

Ellen, MN Strongly Agree

... absolute absurdity ...

January 27,2004

I think as American citizens we have forgotten that the very basis of our morality comes from God. The fact that we live in the only free Republic in the world that celebrates free enterprise and self-empowerment for the greater good of not only this nation but the world, is due to the hundreds of thousands of believers who gave their lives so that we could have the choice to seek GOD and to celebrate GOD in the way we see fit. To negate and try to erase what this country is based on is an absolute absurdity and to not have pride in the history of this great nation...I must ask you to please leave. I am sure many other countries would welcome your citizenship and opionions. The very fact that you are able to voice an opinion is because of this great country. To think that one has created their own morality is to put themself above GOD which is an absolute absurdity. We are not creators but stewards of what has been created lest it all be destroyed. Whether one believes in GOD or one believes that GOD came to this Earth 2000+ years ago as our Lord JESUS and died and rose again is indeed a personal question and one that requires seeking. It is only in this good ole' USA that we have this divinely given freedom to seek the answer openly, freely, and if we are not careful, believers or not, we will lose this freedom, and many many more. We will become a God-less socialist state where divine creation is destroyed as we drift further and further away from the foundational principles that this country was based on. I encourage every American citizen to familiarize themselves with our founding documents and actually read them!

Elinor, NJ Disagree

... not the same thing ...

January 27,2004

Religion and morality are not the same thing. Some of the most vocal religious people are not at all moral. Throughout history people have been fighting over religion to get power over people. Most religions thrive on the idea that "my religion is better than yours, therefore I am better than you are"

Paul, CT Disagree

... Religion is a personal ...

January 27,2004

I do not dictate or pass laws based on my religion. Religion is a personal matter and a person in high office, especially a president, should not foist his religious bias on others.

Becky, OH Strongly Agree

... religious moral system ...

January 27,2004

I believe that all individuals, whether they believe in an actual God or not, do believe in a Higher Power. My Higher Power is God, Jesus Christ. I base my decisions daily on my religious and moral upbringing and continuously look to Him for support, encouragement and comfort. After all the laws of our great country are based on a religious moral system.

Marilyn, NJ Strongly Disagree

... I live in a democracy. ...

January 27,2004

A statement made on the program tonite,:America is a Christian Country. America is a country that happened to have mostly christian political leadership at its inception who seemed to make it very clear that this country was to be founded on the principle that any religion was welcome and we were open to many viewpoints. I don't believe I live in a Christion country I live in a democracy.

Nancy, MI Strongly Agree

... keep religion ...

January 27,2004

God has been put aside by most of us at some time in our lives. But in the end, I believe we go back and relive our actions and ask for foregiveness for whatever it was we did wrong. Why? Because we believe in HIM. When we are ill, we ask HIM for help. This country needs to keep religion, God, in our pledge of allegiance and in the lives of our children to carry on faith in general. We do not all believe in the same God, or have the same religion but that is alright as long as we believe and stay together in what is right for all.

Don Roland, TN Strongly Agree

... our nation his favor ...

January 27,2004

our nation has prospered more than any other in the entire world. why would yoy not want to include god in everything we do.when we exclude god from our lives and our nation his favor will not strive with us. we will be flushed down the toilet with the rest of the non believing heathern nations.

John, MN Strongly Agree

... positive framework ...

January 27,2004

I do not always follow through on those decisions as I should, but my religion does give me a positive framework for my day to day dealings with my fellow Americans.

Sandy, NC Strongly Agree

... except for the word "religion ...

January 27,2004

I agree, except for the word "religion". God wants us to have a daily "relationship" with him and YES that does include going to Him before making decisions!

Susan, TX Strongly Agree

... put democracy first ...

January 27,2004

I am not a believer in a so-called "higher power". I believe that all of creation is the "higher power". It is an energy that flows through the whole Universe, the Planet and each creature, rock and water. It never dies; it is always there and always has been. It effects every aspect of our lives. With the birth of each human, there is the potential for another Jesus, Bhuda, and Gandhi or MLK or saint. It is society and teachings that mold the human to the way it will grow and believe. By keeping society ignorant and uneducated, assures that the "higher powers", the corporations and so-called elected leaders, stay in power. They work hard to make citizens believe that we haven't the potential to do more than worship their madeup pretend gods. I would like to see people elected that will put democracy first and keep their religion in their good deeds in caring for the People and the Planet, our Home.

Bill, FL Agree

... it's a personal relationship ...

January 27,2004

however, it's a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ, not religion, that really makes the difference on a dialy basis. Religion without personal acceptance of God's salvation through Jesus is as moot of a point as there could be.

Deborah Du, VA Strongly Disagree

... others should also be allowed ...

January 27,2004

The original founding fathers were explicit in their intentions to separate Church and State. If a monument to the Ten Commandments is allowed to stand in the state courthouse, then monuments to Allah, the Messiah, Buddha, and Muhommad as well as others should also be allowed to stand. And, if a person summoned to court or otherwise is not comfortable with any of these monuments in the courthouse, he/she should be allowed the request to have them removed, per a non-religious belief, or in the very least - a true belief in the separation of Church of State.

Nora, NY Strongly Agree

... allows us to worship God freely ...

January 27,2004

We as Americans are very fortunate to live in a country that allows us to worship God freely. Our fore- father's faith in God made our country victorious in many situations, and today man want to remove God from the pledge of allegiance, court house, and many other documents that may have God written in it. I don't think people realize the problems this country has encountered since God's name was removed from some places. The bible set standards for us to live, and without those standards man is living a life that is immoral.I think the people that have a problem with the name of God should consider living in a country that shares their opinion. as far as the man in California, he could tell his daughter not to say the pledge. He is also taking his views and trying to make everyone live by them, we as citizens in this country have a right to keep God's name in the pledge, and other documents. In closing the word of God says if man will turn from their wicked ways, he (God) will heal the land. How can one say that God is not real,if they have never had a personal relationship with him.

Tony, FL Disagree

... does not dictate ...

January 27,2004

I strive to be a good person, a good father, and a good husband every day; and while I may see the benefit of religion more as providing a sense of community to some, it certainly does not dictate, nor influence the way I choose to lead my life.

Sarah, NY Strongly Agree

... faith is what makes my life ...

January 27,2004

Jesus has become the only one I can trust completely. I trust Him to send me companions, provide the money I need to live on, and keep me going every single day. My faith is what makes my life valuable. I know my inspiration to be a better person comes from my love of God. To me, taking God out of my country would be like taking food out of the mouth of a hungy child.

Michael, MI Strongly Agree

... Everyone makes choices ...

January 27,2004

Everyone makes choices based on their belief system. I was raised within in the Lutheran Church and thank God for this blessing.

Brian, MD Strongly Disagree

... base my decisions on facts ...

January 27,2004

The definition of faith that i prefer to use is, belief that does not rest on logical proof or material evidence. I base my decisions on facts, not faith. I can inform myself and make my own decisions on various issues.

Tom, MN Strongly Disagree

... Spanish Inquisition is a shining example ...

January 27,2004

Historically some churches have condoned or encouaged torture and murder. Should those teachings and examples have been followed? The Spanish Inquisition is a shining example.

Steve Z, NJ Strongly Agree

... have God for you ...

January 27,2004

Better the have God for you then against you. God just so happens to be a whole bunch smarter than me and you.
