... decisions based on my information ...

January 24,2004

Freedom of Religion
I beleive in the right to have religion to play a large role in my daily life.
I make my decisions based on my information and conclusions with the influence of faith and church.

Ryan, KS Strongly Disagree

... base my life on philosophy ...

January 24,2004

I base my life on philosophy, not religion.

Julie, TX Strongly Disagree

... ethics ARE indeed a part of my daily life ...

January 24,2004

Despite a religious upbringing, religion now plays NO part in my daily life, except when I choose to avoid offending those to whom it does. In my 30-plus years as an adult, I will say that ethics ARE indeed a part of my daily life, in small decisions as well as large. I think I am tolerant of those who believe differently, as long as their practices do not involve constantly pushing me to believe as they do, thereby disrespecting *my* personal beliefs. Also, I may not be tolerant of the religious if their practices conflict with my ethical beliefs.

David, MN Disagree

... people confuse religion with morality ...

January 24,2004

Many people confuse religion with morality. They are not interchangeable words or concepts. Several religions teach hatred and murder.
Religion refers to ritual and tradition, morality refers to respect toward self and others.

Erica, AZ Disagree

... Everyone has morals ...

January 24,2004

Morals are not nessecary religion-based. Everyone has morals. Plus, honestly, I would not make most of my decisions based on a minister/priest/clergyman. No one is perfect.

Joe, VA Agree

... My dialogue with God is ongoing ...

January 24,2004

My Christian faith is so deeply a part of me that I don't need to dig it out when I seek a "right" decision. My dialogue with God is ongoing.
This does not mean that I view all decisions as "religious", or that I view my faith as the basis for everyone's life. The First Amendment means that Govenment is to stay OUT of religion. Period, end of message.
Lost in the heat of the discussion of 'The Founding Fathers Deep Faith' is the importance they placed on keeping Religious Organizations away from the power inherent in Government.

Fran, ME Agree

January 22,2004

I was raised to follow the Lord's version of right and wrong and I've been doing that all my life.

January 22,2004

I was raised to follow the Lord's version of right and wrong and I've been doing that all my life.

Clark, GA Strongly Agree

... We need more religion in this country! ...

January 22,2004

We need more religion in this country! If we had stronger faiths and people actually helping each other, we wouldn't be in the mess we're in.

Hiedi, DC Agree

... I know I can count on my minister ...

January 22,2004

When I find my self in trouble, I know I can count on my minister, my congregation and my God.

John, TN Disagree

January 22,2004

I don't need God to tell me right from wrong.

Sheri, IA Agree

January 20,2004

I go to church on a regular basis and feel my beliefs give me guidance and control of my life.
